I Lost My Memory Card!

I lost my camera's memory card, thus no posts for a while! Until I can buy a new one, or I magically find it. In the meantime, enjoy some magical Sherlock fanart! It is clearly ~*~true love~*~ you guys!

FEATURED

Omg you guys! This deserves a post all its own, because I'm so flattered and honored to be a part of it. Lauren of Sparrow and Urchin chose me to be the first in her new feature series, "Art to Outfit." I love this idea to death, because it focuses on the artistic aspect of style and fashion, and showcases some bloggers who you wouldn't necessarily know were artists as well. Needless to say, I feel so proud to be featured, and check out the amazing sketch of me that Lauren drew! I LOVE IT.

So go check it out!

P.S. Lauren's blog is super awesome in its own right, so don't forget to follow her. ♥

Karaoke Tiemz

Last night I met up with my girl Ashleigh in Vancouver, Washington for some karaoke fun! I've never actually done real karaoke before (I assume Karaoke Revolution doesn't count?), and it did not disappoint! Much to my despair, however, I signed up to do Bon Jovi's "Runaway" and the DJ never did call me up for it. I don't know what happened! Bon Jovi, I've failed you! Oh well, we ended up singing some Mark Anthony and Lou Bega, so really, you can't go wrong there. Who remembers "Mambo Number 5"? Aw yeah I bet you miss that one!

I love hanging out with Ashleigh. She and her husband, Pablo, are ridiculously fun people. They're the ones whose wedding I was honored to be a part of a couple weeks ago, and I plan to do a little post about the wedding in a while (if I'm not lazy). I love them so much!

I promise I'll do an outfit post soon. I've just been super busy lately what with car issues, and then lying around feeling sorry for myself because I have my period. Being a woman is hard work, guys.

Sequin Shoulders

Wasn't going to take outfit photos today, because I'm a lazy butt, but then I realized I don't think I've done any outfits for the blog with this awesome sweater. And I had to take pictures of the sequin-shoulder sweater!

I'm wearing: H&M sweater, F21 skirt, Target flats and tights.

Back to my go-to outfit! Skirt, flats, sweater. Sometimes I go crazy and wear boots instead of flats. But yeah, nothing too exciting, but that suits me just fine. As long as I have sequined shoulders.

So Halloween! What are you guys planning on doing for the holiday? Dressing up? I plan to have a Super Fun Halloween, because for the past several Halloweens I've had, they all sucked and were totally disappointing. This year will be different! I'm going to finally give up on trying to make my own unique and obscure costumes, and just buy something at the store. Every time I make a costume it looks awful and nobody can tell what it is. So no more! I will be recognizable, by jove, and I'm going to have fun. I am resolved. So what are you kids being for Halloween? I'm super curious!

Capelet

So I've had a pretty good weekend so far. I went shopping with my best friend yesterday, ate yummy pasta, played FFXIV, and generally lounged around and enjoyed myself. It was nice. I like relaxed, unplanned weekends. They revive me so much better than busy, overbooked weekends ever could.

I'm wearing: Target skirt and tights, Wet Seal top, F21 belt, Old Navy capelet, Payless sneakers.

One of the things I bought while out shopping yesterday was this capelet! I love saying capelet. Capelet capelet capelet. It's not a sweater, guys. This is no cardigan. What you see before you is a capelet! For only $16, and with such a cool name, I couldn't resist. Hopefully it will help keep me warm in my still air-conditioned office (which is a crime against humanity, but I won't even get into it).

So I haven't had any caffeine yet today. I am in dire need of some, straightaway. Thus this post will be sadly brief, but let me just say, in closing: CAPELET.

Questions

Some days you have a super good idea for an outfit, and that outfit just does not perform as expected. And you end up with frumpy outfit photos. For me, that day was today. I don't really know what I was thinking with this outfit. At any rate, I was thinking it would turn out a bit better than it did! Oh well, here's to experimenting with my remaining clean clothes, at any rate.

I'm wearing: Old Navy top and scarf, F21 skirt, Target flats and tights.

I am currently obsessed with Peggle, Eric Northman (when was I ever not obsessed), and the new Gap logo. I don't know why. All day yesterday I followed the Gap drama as it unfolded across the interwebs. It filled me with joy and amusement. Is Gap serious? Did they design a shitty logo just so they could creepily crowdsource for a new one? Is it all a publicity stunt, aimed at attracting angry Gap "fans" to their facebook page? Or is Gap really just that stupid and lacking in taste? Who knows, but it excites me.

I'm really craving French fries and beer, but I have a feeling that won't be happening tonight. And if it does, I will just regret all the calories and money spent. Why can't life just be a lovely oasis full of endless money and zero weight gain? Why can't I travel in time? Why can't everything be a sci fi novel? Questions.

Green

So... I don't really like the color green in clothes. I like it in nature, and in salads, and especially absinthe. But not so much clothes... and I can't figure out why. It makes me feel sickly, or moldy somehow. I can't figure out what gave me this absurd state of mind! Can you? Well, despite my green aversion, I bought this dress at Target a while back. It was the only color I saw the dress in besides black, and it seemed like a nice fall color. So I bought it. I wish it was a different color, but I love the style so much that I will suffer through a day of wearing green. Just for this dress.

I'm wearing: Target dress and tights, Old Navy flats, Urban Outfitters bag, Ralph Lauren sunglasses.

I splurged on a $15 tripod yesterday, and I've decided from now on I'll try to take photos on my lunch hour in this nearby park. Yay! Thoughts on how it turned out? I wanted to have a more "nature" background but it was so bright outside that I had to go into the shade and use this silly wall as my backdrop. I apparently like white brick walls as backdrops.

And now I must go eat food or I may pass out on the couch here.

Featured Blog: Simply Sunstar

Well hello thar! Long time no blog. I've been super busy since early last week getting prepared for my friend's wedding, and then after the wedding I was so freaking exhausted I just didn't have the energy to do anything whatsoever until today.

So, I thought I'd start out the week with another featured blog. And what a way to start the week!

Simply Sunstar is the blog-child of Heather, a girl whose style inspires me every time I visit her blog. She has a very fun, feminine, and earthy style that makes me so happy. Check out how she uses brown! Swoon-pants. And she's the sweetest, most down to earth girl ever. So, to help you all get to know Heather (whose blog you should all check out), I asked her some interview questions. Enjoy!

1. Tell us your favorite thing about blogging.

Definitely the community. Everyone is so passionate and supportive. This is a world I never knew existed until last year and now I’m so excited to be a part of it. I love connecting with other bloggers and sharing ideas. I love getting and giving feedback. I don’t have too many friend’s interested in fashion, so this is the perfect place for me to come and get advice on what works and what doesn‘t.

2. If you had to incorporate a historical era into one of your outfits every day forever, which one historical era would it be? And why.

This is a tough question. My easy answer would be the 1960’s flower power era. I wear floral all the time, so this would be an easy thing to incorporate every day. So instead, I’m going to go way back in time and choose incorporate pieces from the renaissance. I mostly love the jewelry and cool headpieces from that time. I actually have a puzzle ring that I got from the renaissance festival last year, it’s such a creative idea. I like to amaze people with it, because I actually know how to put it back together!

3. Describe the ideal pair of boots.

NOT suede. Although I absolutely love suede boots, they get destroyed in rain and snow, even with the suede protector stuff. Living in Michigan, I try to pick shoes that will last me more than one season AND they need to be comfortable. I don’t like to endure pain for pretty shoes. Right now, my ideal pair of boots are these in black or brown. I love the buckles and I feel like black and brown are the most versatile color. I will be buying these as soon as I have the money to spare!

4. What initially inspired you to start a fashion blog?

I’ve been reading fashion blogs for awhile now and have always said “I want to do that!” Before I started this blog, I wore jeans everyday. Seriously, even on hot summer days. So I saw the remix challenge going on at Kendi Everyday and decided I wanted to try it. I was reading all of the other remixer’s blogs and they were all so creative and had beautiful outfits/pictures. Well my remix items all included jeans, so I ditched the challenge and started anew. I decided I was finally going to wear the dresses that were hanging in my closet. I’ve only worn jeans once since!

5. What are some of your daily inspirations?

I get inspired by online shopping and lookbooks. I will see one item and instantly start working out an outfit in my head. I’m often inspired by colors as well. I always stop to look at new nail polishes to get an idea of the season’s color scheme. Inspiration is everywhere, I just wasn’t looking before. Most of all, I'm inspired by other bloggers. Everyone is so creative and open to sharing their ideas with the world. I would have never thought of mixing flowers with plaid until I saw pattern/print mixing, now it's one of my favorite looks. Other bloggers inspire me to just be myself. I love that bloggers stay so true to themselves, so I try to be as open and honest as possible.

6. If you suddenly were transported to a magical alternate world, like Narnia, what would you want to be wearing when it happened? Why? (Keep in mind you're trapped there, possibly fighting or running from the Forces of Evil.)

Well I could sum this up in one word: layers! This way I can adjust my wardrobe accordingly. I would want to have a large shoulder bag for hand-free storage of said layers and whatever else I would find useful. Comfy boots would be a must too. I could wear boots all day, everyday! J And I would need one of those cool thigh straps to hold a weapon, just in case!

7. Tell us about your boyfriend and how he supports you and your blog. Yay!

He is my biggest supporter and photographer. I started off doing the tripod thing because I was scared to pose for him. But he took my pictures once and I quickly got over the nervousness and now he takes all of my pictures. He’s a great director too, since he’s the one behind the camera, he’s able to tell me what works and what doesn’t. I love seeing his creative side. I also tell him about every new follower and comment I get. He’s always genuinely excited for me! He’s the biggest part of my everyday life, so I’m very happy he’s an active participant in both of my worlds.
