Titan A.E.

You know what's a vastly underrated movie? Titan A.E. This is probably because nobody has seen it, because the people I know who have seen it really like it (except Greg, who is silly and only just saw it for the first time today).

Anyway, I was in the mood for some kind of dystopian sci fi movie, and since I couldn't get all the way through Blade Runner (it was just as bad the second time, sorry Dad), I decided I'd watch Titan A.E. for the like, fifth time. Admittedly it's not really a dystopian story, at least that's not how I'd describe it, but it involves humans roaming the vastness of space without a home planet, so that's downer enough for me. Plus, voice actors include Bill Pullman and Matt Damon! Watch this shiz.

This movie rules. The soundtrack is just as amazing. I should be in bed right now but I'm writing this instead. Tomorrow I will be all, "what was I thinking."

I seriously love this movie, from my childhood, I think this is my favorite, with Treasure Planet just behind it.

I loved this movie! The soundtrack was awesome and the hero reminiscent of Dmitri from Anastasia (right up there with Prince Philip on the hot cartoon character scale) and the idea of an ark… Thanks for the memories!

Oh no, this movie is rad. I totally have it on vhs. I love how Bill Pullman's character wears shitty 70s tiki lounge by way of 90s thrift store shirts. Dare I hypothesize that this little gem directly influenced the visual aesthetic of firefly? Or would that just be TOO nerdy? Also, space jellyfish.

I love this movie! It is super underrated. The main dude always reminded me of Dimitri from Dreamwork's 'Anastasia.'

I think I went to this movie when it was in theatres as a kid! I remember my mom not liking the cartoon sex scene or something lol.

That's about all I remember. Don't they name their new planet Bob?

I really want to see this again now that you bring it up.

Do you know if it's on netflix?

I just rewatched this on Netflix, haha. I love these sorts of movies, and would also be rewatching Atlantis and Treasure Planet if Netflixed streamed more Disney stuff!

Another movie you might try to get your hands on the next time you're craving a movie like this is Sunshine. It's kind of got a horror thing going to it, too, but I think you might like it.

I remember seeing parts of it briefly and thinking it was the Road to El Dorado (because of the similar animation, I guess) but I'll have to revisit it. Seems like it would be cool for a rainy Saturday :P

I had to watch Blade Runner twice. The first time in my Performance Art class, the second time in my Cyberpunk class. Same prof. Hated it both times. But the book... Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is so, so good. I highly recommend that you read it!

On another note: I totally started watching Doctor Who after reading the post about your TARDIS tattoo, so THANK YOU!

My husband loved this since it came out, and my sons like it too. I just can't get into it. I love the art though and such!!! And that is funny you finally decided to try to watch Blade Runner again. I think if my husband wasn't so obsessed with it and I saw it on my own before I met him or something, I probably would have been bored and not understood it. For the most part it is a really slow film. Visually it is amazing though.
