I am the Doctor

You're not the first lot to have come here. Oh, there have been so many. And what you have to ask yourself is... what happened to them? Hello. I'm the Doctor. Basically... run.
- The Doctor ("The Eleventh Hour")

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant. And we definitely added to his pile of good things.
- The Doctor ("Vincent and the Doctor")

I'm wearing: F21 skirt, Gap blouse and "bow tie", H&M cardi, Target tights, Aldo shoes.

So today I ever so intentionally dressed like the Eleventh Doctor. Or as close as I could get, anyway. I bought this skirt with built-in suspenders last week, and then I saw a picture of an amazing cosplay of Eleven the other day, and a lightbulb went off. Sadly I was unable to figure out how to tie my real bow tie (again), so I made do with this silly silk tie thingy that I bought at Gap a century ago. I think it makes the whole thing more feminine and less costume-y, although I feel pretty costume-y anyway. Which is a good thing.

Let me tell you a little bit about how amazing the Doctor is. He is absolutely completely amazing. Imagine the oldest, wisest, kindest and most empathetic person ever. Now imagine the silliest, most ridiculous, all-over-the-place, excitable, curious, and ingenious person ever. Take that, plus 900-some years of being a Time Lord and a blue box called the TARDIS, and you have the Doctor. Sort of. He's more than that, of course -- he's the Doctor.

I feel silly trying to put it into words, but Doctor Who has been one of the greatest sources of joy in my life since I first started watching the new series back in 2007. That sounds sad, and maybe it is, but the Doctor helped get me through a very hard breakup, and has been a comfort to me many times since. There are very few shows, movies, or books now that can evoke such emotion in me as this show. Doctor Who reminds me that there is still magic in the world, there is still magic in me, and that I should hold onto that magic because it's starting to disappear more and more as I grow up.

Perhaps it's juvenile to connect myself so emotionally to a family television show about a time-traveling alien, but it truly does mean something to me. It means more to me than I could ever say in a blog post.

And yes, my first tattoo is going to be a TARDIS. U jelly? And for anybody who has no idea what on earth I'm going on about:

And of course, this part:

Yes, yes they are, Doctor. Yes they are.

Meg, this outfit is AMAZING. I love it more than I can write in this measly little comment! I want to wear this outfit. Those tights are still my favorite and I want them, and those boots. And tie. Ahhh.

Oh and the fezzes are cool video is the BEST. That cracks me up. I keep meaning to watch this, but I need to find the time. When I do though, you will be the first to know. OH and it's super cute why you like this show. It's always great to find comfort in something that's constant! xoxoxo

FAVORITE OUTFIT EVER FAVORITE OUTFIT EVER!!!!!!

Costume-ish or not, I loves it. You'd make the doctor drool (sorry Greg).

I've yet been able to catch this show on TV, but I'm pretty sure that trailer had me sold. I love quirky shows :D

I definitely agree with Doctor Who being amazing for getting through break-ups.

You're one of the reasons I'm softening my heart towards silk bow ties. Adorable outfit today as always!

I LOVE this post! Dr. Who has always been a big deal in my family - both the older ones and the new ones. For some reason I never got into it. I'm sure I'd like it if I gave it a chance. I know all of the lingo though. Oh and the outfit is absolutely amazing! The suspenders and patch cardigan are so cute!

This is perfect.
I've made my decision: yes, I will marry you. I'll wear the fez if you wear the bowtie and we'll just wait for Eleven to show up for the dancing.

I must watch these videos when I get home! I've only seen some re-make of Doctor Who, how sad am I :)
Now I'm at school, not-so-interested in this lecture so it was nice to get my mind elsewhere for a little while - especially since this was such a nice post. It's interesting to find out what tv-shows different people have adored for a long time / all their life, or feel very passionate about. And in general too - I love to see/hear/read when someone tells you about the things that are important to them, or that they have a slight obsession on ^^

Cute outfit, but I guess I knew that i'd like it before even clicking to this site ! Always a lovely inspiration.

The Hubby and I just bought suspenders to share! Except I'm worried that The Girls will get in the way and then I'll just look ridiculous :( But they look great on you, so jealous!

This outfit is too cute. The shoes look awesome with it too. I am kind of obsessed with the suspenders, haha.

Can I just start watching Doctor Who now? Will I be confused if I just jump into it? I don't really have the time or ambition to go back and watch all the previous seasons, ha.

So if Dumbledore was a doctor, he'd be the Doctor? Haha I always love how you have inspiration behind your outfits. PLUS are those little suspenders attached to your skirt?? Freaking cute...they remind me of the overalls I just thrifted and can't wait to wear...wahhhhh warmer weather.

watch all the old doctors before getting your tattoo so you won't make all those old fans in the UK mad! They are all amazing to watch, I promise. I totally think you'll fall in love with the companion Zoe from the second doctor episodes especially! you remind me of her a bit! Wendy Padbury is super cute. Here she is with a cyberman so be careful! http://www.radiotimes.com/shows/doctor-who/gallery/companions/009/photo_lrg.jpg

I think a TARDIS tattoo would rock by the way.

I love this outfit and the suspenders are so cool.
