Servebot

Greg came up with the title of this post. idk

I don't know what I think of this dress. I got it from ModCloth's Cabin Fever sale, but after trying it on, I'm ambivalent. I love the look of it, I think it's darling, but I'm not sure "darling" is quite what I'm going for with my style. It's also got this awful tight elastic sleeves that are pretty uncomfortable. I'd say I have pretty small arms, at least average sized, so the fact that the elastic on these sleeves is almost cutting off my circulation seems rather ridiculous. I'm considering altering it somehow, but I don't know how I'd do it! We'll see. Anyway, I just don't know about this dress. I'm going to keep it, for sure, but I'm still mulling it over in my mind... maybe I can find a way to style it that makes me feel more comfortable. I don't really want to look like a 12-year-old from 1910, surprisingly!

I'm wearing: ModCloth dress, Target tights, Vintage Crown shoes via DSW.

My weekend has been deliciously relaxing so far. Last night I watched The Ruby in the Smoke due to Matt Smith being in it, and it turned out to be one of those movies that I would've loved as a kid but was a bit boring as an "adult". The most enjoyable parts were the parts with Matt Smith, NOT GONNA LIE. Still, if you love Matt Smith as much as I do, it's worth a watch!

If you're into reading, on the other hand, I more than recommend the Kingkiller Chronicles by Patrick Rothfuss. Seriously, you guys. I love those fat fantasy novels, but these books are beyond awesome. It takes a lot for me to get really engaged in a book nowadays, but The Name of the Wind and now The Wise Man's Fear are the best books I've read in many years. Not since Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell have I enjoyed a fantasy novel this much. Even if you don't like fantasy, the story and character development in these books is more than enough reason to read them. And they're funny, too. I've been lolling so much while reading The Wise Man's Fear! Read these books, they are amazing!

Now I need to figure out something to do for the rest of my day. Although I'll probably just end up reading, considering I have like 700 pages left to digest. Yay!

I love this dress! I was considering getting this! It's such a pretty dress and I think you look awesome in it (not like a 12 year old from 1910 ahahah) It's really charming, I wish I got this one too! But alas I was rushing to order my favorites before they sold out!

I was eyeing this dress but didn't buy it cause I suck at wearing white things a.k.a. I always spill grape juice(or Dale does). So glad you bought it though cause you look great in it!

Where does it cut off circulation in your arms? From what I can see maybe above the elbow. If you can, maybe cut some of the elastic and open it up would help a little. Hopefully it won't be as painful to wear, because it's super cute.

Switching out the elastic is an easy fix, so I think once you do that it'll be way more comfortable. But the dress is gorgeous. I'm was so mad I put myself on a no new shopping ban this year when this sale popped up! I think I saw 5 dresses I had to have, but didn't buy:(

you could cut slits in the sleeves and attach little buttons and cut holes on the other side to make it look like it was supposed to be that way.

Gorgeous dress, it really is darling, perfect word to describe it! I hate when something fits odd though, Im sure you can find a way to alter it!

you look totally darling in this dress, but i definitely understand not necessarily wanting to look darling... i've bought a few dresses recently that were too cute to pass up but make me feel like a child so i don't wear them all that often.

i wanted this dress so badly but ended up not getting it because all of the reviews said the same thing about the elastic arms cutting off circulation, and that didn't fit the profile for a breezy little babydoll dress.

still, looks absolutely charming on you!

There was this other show or movie that Billie Piper (rose from doctor who) was in about being a call girl and Matt Smith was in it as a salesman that she slept with I think on a one night stand. I thought that was weird. . .like, "she slept with the doctor. . .but not HER doctors that she was a companion with". .

I think this dress is so pretty!! I didn't ever see this on listed at all!

Thanks for the kind comments you left me. If I ever feel like ridding of the pocket watch (which honestly I get rid of things regularly as it is) I'll send that pocket watch your way. However, there are seldom things my brother ever gave me at all so for now it is a nice token of that.

Is that one movie you were talking about where the mom died and the father ordered a bride that Sarah Plain and Tall?? I had to read it and watch the movie in 3rd grade I think. Maybe 4th grade. I don't remember the marriage situation though!

Dude, I've been trying for years to look like a 12-year old from 1910. And it took you all of one dress to accomplish my dream! Arrghh (shakes fist).

Annnyyway, I also got a rad package in the mail yesterday. Yay! :)

Oh yes, tricky to style...I like it as is, but maybe it would be cute with a red tights/jean-jacket combo? Someone probably already said that one!

I'm so happy you wrote this. I have the SAME problem with quality/styling with everything I order from Modcloth. I love the idea of the stuff, but when it comes I'm underwhelmed. Gah.

That modcloth sale almost drained my bank account! I limited myself to one dress but now I'm kicking myself for not nabbing this cutie! You look adorable and I agree with everyone that fixing the elastic should be and easy fix!

I love that dress. I find myself dressing like a twelve year old child circa 1880 all of the time. I think you look adorable! xoxo

I really love this dress. I feel like it has so much potential and I wish I snatched it up!

I don't know how attached you are to the sleeves, but I think the dress would be super cute without them and that would also solve your elastic problem!

I really really love this dress.
I don't think it's too darling at all. Especially with the tights you spiced it up with. :) Love it!

I actually really love this dress! You could toughen it up a bit with (faux) leather leggings or black skinny jeans and a black belt. Maybe add a black velvet jacket. accessories!

hah! i think you look adorable, not childlike at all. i'm hesitant to buy anything with sleeves without trying it on first, as my arms are larger than average (too many push ups, not the best idea) and they never fit in anything.

Have you ever read any of George RR Martin's books? I have a feeling your would love them if you haven't, they are fantasy on such an amazing fantastic level and HBO has has the TV series of the first book coming out in April!
