Anglophilia

Hey look, it's my 50th post! How exciting! I can't believe I've taken that many pictures of myself. Ridiculous how that happens. I feel like I should somehow celebrate this milestone, but I'm feeling lazy, so maybe we'll save the celebrations for my 100th post instead. Good idea, Meg. Thanks! (Also I look like such a goob when I smile! Eeesh.)

I'm wearing: F21 skirt and tee, Target socks, Aldo shoes.

Ah, my Oxford shirt. I don't think I've worn this yet for the bloggiwog. I ordered it from Forever21 when I lived in Montana, because when I saw it on the website I knew I had to have it. I mean, it's Oxford. I'm not sure if you know this (I'm not sure why you would), but I am a huge Anglophile. A huge Anglophile. It used to border on the ridiculous, but I feel I've done a teensy bit of growing up, and thus my obsession has died down. Don't let that fool you, though. I definitely have London-inspired earrings with double-decker buses and Union Jacks on them, and a red phone booth keychain, as well as an unhealthy obsession with all things Doctor Who, Jane Austen, and English Victorian poets. I used to drink only English Breakfast tea, and I had this alter ego that was an English elf from alternate history... and... well now I'm just talking too much. Awkward face. Suffice to say, I love England! Harry Potter! King Arthur! I want to live there. The end.

Except, not the end! Ha. I need advice. I have two interviews tomorrow, both for call centers doing customer service type stuff, so what tips do you guys have for me? I don't know much about call centers, so any suggestions for qualifications I should emphasize in my interview would be great. ♥

Oh my god! I wanted that shirt so badly when they were selling it on Forever 21, but they didn't have it in my local store. I am so obsessed with English things including, but not limited to, the BBC, Dr. Who, Top Shop, digestive cookies, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Cadbury chocolates, and my grandmother!

Hahaha, I love your little english loving outburst! You look so cute in this get up :) I'm a big fan of Harry Potter too. My books live on the other side of the country with my little sister though - makes me a little sad when I have an urge to read them again, like right now. Congrats on the 50 posts! I didn't even celebrate 100 but I'm weird like that!

Wish I could help with your interviews but I've never been in one, or worked in a call centre :) You'll be fine! Sending interview arse-kicking thoughts your way!

Congrats on the milestone post! I always forget to see how many posts I have reached. I'm not even sure what I'm at right now! Oh well.

And good luck with the interviews! I have no advice to offer though, because I've never worked at a call center.

Ps - Cute shoes and love the skirt!

I used to dream about going to Oxford... and then I got mediocre grades in college so that's never going to happen. One of these days I'll figure out a way to visit, though.

I don't know if you like mysteries, but Dorothy Sayers' Gaudy Night takes place at Oxford and I absolutely adore it. It's hardly a mystery, really. More like a guide to life. I used to travel everywhere with it but by now I practically have it memorized... okay I'm weird.

Good luck with your interviews! Confidence is the most important thing. If you understand what they need and really believe (or are really good and faking that belief!) you can do it, you'll do great.

But then I still don't have a job so maybe you don't want to take my advice...

England is rather lovely, Harry Potter is always being filmed in my area, Hogwarts is my local cathedral! Maybe if you visit you should veer west! Congratulations on the 50 posts, and good luck with your interview.

HAhahahaha I love this post, your outfit is adorable, I want it! :P

My Dad's side of the family is from England. They all walk around saying "bloody hell" (I still do sometimes). My dad likes to say "What's all this then?" in an accent all the time too, it is so funny lol. But yes, Harry Potter!! It is one of my dreams to someday go to England :):)

*Thanks for your kind words on my last post, it really does mean a lot :)

I LOVE that skirt. Truly, madly, deeply!

Good luck on your interviews! I would emphasize "good people skills," that always seems to be a bonus in customer service work :)

Being an Oxford student, I can tell you that rather randomly, that symbol is the crest of Balliol College, Oxford: not that of the university or the city! I wonder why they picked that one?

ahh Meg is an anglophile whoop whoop! You know you can visit me anytime you like, I live in an old English market town and our cottage is wee but there's room for you and your man for a visit and you're tiddly anyway!! Hehe I love how uni tops have become cool, I went to St Andrews which is always a favourite! My brother studied at Oxford but only owns an Oxford tie, funny isn't it! Hokay, I suggest you sell yourself tomorrow on 5 basic pointers:
1) Good Customer care skills as well as having an out-going and friendly personlity.
2) Understanding individual differences of customers
3) Good communication and listening skills
4)Language Abilites - have a good command over practical language or languages used for transacting business.
5) and last but not least - computer literacy (which of course you have)!!
I didn't like copy that from the internet oh no no no hehe! Good luck sweetie xx

Goodness you are cute as a button. I adore this outfit!!! It is amazing!!

I had liked more of the older anime since I'm all . . old school like that. I grew up watching rainbow brite, unico, robotech, and The Mouse & His Child, but not knowing it was anime until later.

Otherwise You asked for it! Tell me ones you like too!

I love vampire hunter d (both of them), Neon Genesis Evangelion, revolutionary Girl Utena, Sailor Moon (unedited version, not lame US cut), Oh My Goddess!, Noein, Rurouni Kenshin, Chobits, Fushigi Yuugi, Honey & Clover, Special A, Martian Successor Nadesico, Romeo & Juliet, Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad, Peach Girl, Record of Lodoss War, Haibane Renmei, Jubei Chan, Lovely Complex, Lucky Star, Cowboy Bebop, Magic Knight Rayearth, Bubble Gum Crisis original and Tokyo 2040, Iria - Zeiram, Nana, Pom Poko, Super Gals. . . probably more and I just can't remember. I've seen hundreds of series so it is hard to recall them all.

I saw the first episodes of Gankutsuou, but I don't really remember seeing more than the first two.
