Escape to B&N

I'm updating today from the Barnes & Noble in the Lloyd Center mall, in order to escape the heat and languish in air conditioning. Apparently the entire neighborhood had the same thought. Luckily, the table behind mine is occupied by a group of super loud and annoying teenage girls. Best table ever! I also, thank god, forgot my headphones, so instead of listening to my music, I can overhear their dulcet tones discussing typical intelligent, engaging teenage girl things.

Forgive my sarcasm. Yesterday was not my best day, for many reasons, and I was hoping today would shape up to be better... but it's not looking good, thanks to my neighbors in the cafe here.

I'm wearing: Wet Seal dress as top, Old Navy skirt and shoes, thrifted belt.

Once again, I'm wearing the Old Navy black skirt. I won't apologize! It's perfect for days when I don't know what in the world to wear. I also spent a record time getting these photos done as quickly as possible. Note my pained face in that third photo. Ah, summer!

Well, I'm dying of excitement because my mom is coming to visit, and she arrives Friday night! I cannot wait! I'm going to show her around the neighborhood, introduce her to my favorite places, and check out some touristy stuff around Portland that I haven't seen yet. I've never been away from my mom this long, and while I'm 24 years old, I still get momsick. I can't wait to see her! Maybe she'll let me post some of our photos here in my blog, so you can see her too.

What do you guys think? Should I suck it up and go to Radioshack and buy some cheapo headphones? Or suffer the teenage girl soundtrack behind me? Decisions...

Headphones. Do it.

And I hope you and your mom have so much fun together-- I can't imagine what it's gonna be like next year when mine moves away!

PS: Your artworks is sweeping the blogging world! I'm so proud!

I agree. Headphones are the way to go. They may even be necessary for maintaining sanity. Teenage girls are known for their power to cast feeblemind on unwary listeners...

I still can't believe you're in Portland and choose to go to B&N.

I loooooooove those shoes.

Spare yourself the pain and get the headphones. I was in B&N with a friend the other day, and the girls behind us were showing each other their beauty pageant videos and commenting on how fat they were at a whopping 103 lbs. Shoot me in the face.

You should totally con your mom into uploading the pictures! Mom's are just the best :)

That's what a basic black skirt is for, wearing it on those blah days! I love that top by the way, the print is fabulous.

Maybe you should get those headphones haha. I actually used to teach pre-k, so I've become very, very good at tuning people out. Hehe.

Gwah I need to get some headphones too, please recommend a good pair!

That last pic of you is my favorite, you look adorable :)

Love the skirt, go-to items rock, they always make you feel awesome when you wear them.

I couldn't even tell it was the same skirt with the items you are wearing with it! I understand the teenage girl fun! I always get that at the library when I am studying for finals, so annoying! Has your Mom come to visit you before? I hope you have fun!

I'm such a baby. I visit my parents for a weekend (cause they're only a few hours away) and when I leave, sometimes I cry. I think my parents and I have a better relationship now than when I still lived at home. Isn't that always the case :P

Super cute that your mom commented!
I also hate when you get stuck sitting near, driving near, walking near, or anywhere near obnoxious teenagers, or people in general. Sorry!

I love that dress/top! Wear that skirt everyday for a week, I'll still like your outfits :)

I dunno, I always find it entertaining to listen to conversations, and the more obnoxious the more fodder XD

I'm liking the florals and your tied up hair' that black skirt is perfect for matching!

Yikes. No headphones and bad neighbors is an awful combination! I hope you bit the bullet and got headphones! Or at least learned something delightfully scandalous about one of the girls.

As soon as I saw this post all I could think was "I recognize that skirt!". But not in a bad way at all!! I love the fact that you wear the same things. A) It makes you seem like a real person, because I don't know how big some bloggers closets must be, but they wear something different every. freaking. day. I WISH I could do that! B) It lets us readers see all the fun, unique ways you can style something!

Anyway, rant over. Your shirt has such a sweet pattern on it, and the belt really brings everything together. LOVE the last picture! Have a fantastic time with your mom!

You're a writer—think of it as a character study! I always forget to take my headphones on the bus (and a few weeks ago I left them on a plane. Boooo) but other people's conversations, even if their kind of dumb, can be pretty fascinating sometimes.

Yes, I'm kind of creepy...

So cuteee. Love that dress/top. And teenagers are my fave. LOL. NOT AT ALL. I think even when I was 13 I completely hated all teenager. I would tell my parents how annoying they were and they thought it was so funny since I was one! Ha ha

I do some hair tutorials on youtube. I have a link to my channel on my page. I haven't done any in a long time though. They've also deleted some of them because of the songs :(

I liked Vision of Escaflowne and own it (my husband like that one more than me though). I never saw One Piece. I remember when it came out and wanting to though. Haruhi Suzimiya was great. I also still need to one day see Samurai Champloo. Yeah, I've seen all but two of the Studio Ghibli movies, I should get to that!!
