Last Day With Mom

This is my mom's last day here in Portland. I'm gonna miss her so much when she's gone. At least we have a ton of fun memories to dwell upon, right?

Today we drove out to Multnomah Falls, which is right on the I-84 and is so beautiful. For some reason the majesty of it all made me feel like I was back in Montana. Oregon outdoorsy things are so much less outdoorsy than Montana things, though. In Montana you hike for miles to waterfalls, and if you're lucky there's an outhouse by the tiny gravel parking lot. At Multnomah Falls, there was a restaurant and lounge, espresso stand, snow cones and ice cream, snack bar, and everything was paved. Truly a different "nature" experience than what you get in Montana. Oh well, I don't mind, I'm not much for hiking anyway!

The above three photos are actually of Wahkeena Falls, which are a bit west of Multnomah Falls, but just as beautiful in their own right. I actually thought they were more photogenic -- less people milling about, and more moss and greenery to add to the surroundings.

I just love waterfalls so much! They're one of nature's most beautiful contraptions. Along with mountains. There's something so majestic and almost magical about watching all of that foamy white water spilling out over a high rock face into moss-lined pools below.

I had to post this picture of me and Greg; we look so derpy!

I hope you dorkpods have a great evening! And guess what? Meg has another job interview tomorrow! Eeeesh I just can't get a break. Haha not that I want one, but interviews are so stressful.

I just had to say this... The first picture TOTALLY reminds me of Lord of the Rings. Yea. Anyway... That sounds like such a fun trip! And such a... unique... hiking experience, hehe. I'm all for snow cones. All the pictures are just beautiful.

Good luck tomorrow!! Fingers crossed, for sure!

Great location, how beautiful! And I'm sure others have said it... but wow, you and your mom look so much alike!!

Btw, I love your terms "derp" and "derpy"... if I'm not careful, it's going to creep into my terrible long list of slang ;)

Good luck tomorrow!!!!

Awesome! And, there are real outdoorsy things in Oregon, too. Multnomah Falls is just one of the more touristy ones so that is why it has modern conveniences and tons of people. :)
Yay for the interview!

A+ for use of the word "derpy." You are so cute with your mom!!! How can you be from Montana and not hike? I want to go hiking there so passionately. Gorgeous pictures!

good luck sweetpea - loving those waterfalls, gorge and great photos! I didn't know you were from Montana, I've been there! Back in 2002 I had a two week ranch holiday with my sister about an hour outside Missoula - sooo goddam beautiful. I love the Blackfoot river! xx

Go to Neskowin for more "real" outdoorsyness ... it's still kind of touristy but you can hike all over the beach and not see anyone for ages, esp. if you go in the fall when it's cold as fuck! Super fun! We rented a cabin once for Thanksgiving and it was great, and totally deserted. :D
