PAX Style

I didn't bother getting dressed today beyond an oversized sweater and pants, as it's my last day to completely veg out before starting my new job. I know, I was supposed to start yesterday, but that job did not work out (if you read my twitter you'll know why). Things did work out for me in the end though, because I have a new job that I start tomorrow. I'm very optimistic about this one!

Anyway, since I didn't post yesterday and I have no outfits to share today, I figured I should do something. I've been thinking about PAX (the Penny Arcade Expo, a gaming convention) a ton lately, as Greg and I are leaving for Seattle on Thursday to attend! It was Greg's birthday present to me back in May, and finally it shall be realized. I've never been to a convention before, so I'm dying of excitement!

In a fit of inspiration, I put together a Polyvore look for each day of the convention. These are the outfits I'd wear if I had my way. Unfortunately I'll have to improvise, but that will just make getting dressed more interesting. Behold!

I'd start out the convention with something comfortable and versatile, the old standby, jeans and a t-shirt. I'd mix it up with fun sneakers, layers, and accessories, and of course I'd wear a Yoshi shirt (favorite Mario character ever). I think layers are important, as you never know how warm or cold it might be in the convention center with tons of people milling about.

On day two I'd go for a more feminine look, but stick with a fun vibe and bright colors. Video games are inherently bright and colorful, so I reflected that in these outfits. I'd be comfortable all day in flat boots, a light dress, and a bag big enough to fit all of my portable gaming systems!

On day three I'd go all out! Print mixing, Mario t-shirt, bright accessories, and a Squirtle plushie! You may as well be remembered by everyone who sees you, right? It's important to make an impression, and with this super fun outfit, I'm sure I'd succeed. If only I actually had bright red geek glasses...

What do you think? Are geeky conventions something you'd like to check out sometime? What's an event you'd love to attend, and how would you dress for it?

I like how you added that bright blue X-Box controller. :)

I really wanted to go to the Phoenix Comic-Con this year, but only saw anything about it a few days before and already had plans for that weekend.

I would like to think that people these days (especially convention-goers of the male persuasion) would not be surprised if a girl walked in wearing a skirt (that wasn't part of a cosplay costume, revealing or otherwise), but sometimes I don't really have a lot of faith in them.

I'd probably still wear a skirt anyway. :)

I think we have all had days where we we don't get dressed and definetely do not go out and take pictures. That is okay though because these sets are uber adorable. I love geek chic clothes! I would totally go to a convention, especially if had anything to do with Harry Potter (I am a HUGE fan). Great looks and good luck with your job tomorrow!

Oh, what fun! I adore the second look; the dress is so lovely, and I love the fun pops of color from the booties, socks, bag, and (awesome!!) earrings. LOVE the Squirtle plushie in the last image, as well. Too cute!

Have fun at PAX! I'm going to Dragoncon this weekend, and I'm SUPER excited.

I really like those teal shoes in the third look-- a friend of mine has a really similar pair in snakeskin, and they're great.

Man that sounds fun, I had the best time at the san diego comic con two years ago... why haven't I gone back! I dig all these looks, and would totally sport them, maybe with some comic tees instead though... I'm terrible at video games :)

Good luck tomorrow!

This all looks so very fun!! I bet you will have a really wonderful time at PAX and get a few stares with your marvelous style. I would have a hard time deciding to go to a convention because I myself am a Star Wars fan, while the boyfriend is a all about Star Trek. Luckily we agree upon Lord of the Rings!! Have a good time!
